The Weaver of Worlds

Somewhere between the first map ever scratched into clay and the last myth whispered around a dying fire, a world took shape. Not the world you were born into — something older, stranger, and altogether more interesting.

Welcome to The Weaver of Worlds.

This is a place for the builders. The dreamers who lose sleep over what their fictional city’s sewer system looks like. The storytellers who want to know how a medieval blacksmith actually spent their Tuesday. The writers who understand that a world without rules isn’t a fantasy — it’s just a mess.

Here, we pull from the full tapestry of human experience — ancient civilizations and living cultures, forgotten mythologies and modern belief systems, the economics of a market town and the theology of a pantheon — and we use all of it to build something entirely new.

What you’ll find here:

Every issue of The Weaver of Worlds explores the craft of world-building through a different lens. Some weeks we’re sketching the layout of a frontier village. Other weeks we’re arguing about whether divine magic and arcane magic can coexist in the same cosmology — and what happens politically when they do. We study real cultures not to copy them, but to understand why they work, so we can build fictional ones that feel just as alive.

Topics we explore include — but are never limited to:

  • Maps & Geography — how the land shapes everything else

  • Cultures & Societies — ancient, modern, and wholly invented

  • Mythology & Spirituality — divine, arcane, and psychic frameworks

  • Settlements — from remote villages to sprawling cities

  • Professions — the people who make a world feel inhabited

  • Monetary Frameworks — because even dragons think about currency

  • The Rules of Magic — and why the rules matter more than the magic

We also host Loom & Lore, our companion podcast where The Weaver sits down to talk craft, culture, and creative world-building in long form — conversational, curious, and occasionally obsessed with very specific historical details.

Who is The Weaver?

A fellow builder. Someone who has spent far too long staring at blank maps and asking “but what do the people here actually eat?” and decided that question deserved a proper answer. This publication is the result of that obsession, offered to anyone willing to pick up a thread and start weaving.

Whether you’re writing a novel, running a campaign, designing a game, or simply building a world for the sheer joy of it, you belong here.

The loom is warmed up. Let’s build something.
